Descripción
Requisition ID: 294772 Relocation Authorized: None Telework Type: Full-Time Office/Project Work Location: Yanacocha, Peru Project Summary Planta de Tratamiento de Agua de Yanacocha (WTP) is located 800 km northeast of Lima, Peru. It is part of the largest gold mine in South America. The project includes two of the continent’s largest acidic wastewater treatment plants—an 800‑hour capacity facility on the west side and a 2700‑hour capacity facility on the east side. Current activities involve early work on the site, creating permanent platforms, shipping areas, estimating, class‑2 assessment, level‑3 program, and the execution plan. Role Summary The mechanical discipline lead is responsible for pre‑commissioning of acidic water treatment plants, covering pumps, ultrafiltration, reverse osmosis, media filters, high‑density sludge systems, oxidation reactors, lime plants, and auxiliary equipment such as submersible, multistage, centrifugal, vertical, and screw pumps, industrial air compressors, and instrumentation. The role collaborates with process, instrumentation, controls, electrical, and ES&H; disciplines to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable pre‑commissioning. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly technical progress reports for mechanical pre‑commissioning activities, ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with pre‑operation standards for mechanically driven equipment, including data recording, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements.
- Review, validate, and approve IPERC and authorize high‑risk work in coordination with ES&H.;
- Approve vendor technical documentation and test reports, including water run checks and functional parameter measurements.
- Verify safety conditions such as NPSH, design pressures, safety valves, and emergency shutdown systems.
- Resolve engineering issues using established codes, standards, and pre‑commissioning methodologies.
- Supervise and coordinate field tests: hydrostatic, flushing, leak, alignment, and functional pump tests.
- Lead mechanical pre‑commissioning checklists and matrices, ensuring traceability of operative parameters and test results.
- Coordinate with process, instrumentation, controls, electrical, piping, and HSE disciplines to integrate activities during pre‑commissioning and safe, orderly field testing. Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Metallurgical, or Industrial Engineering.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in industrial projects, or 9+ years total relevant experience.
- At least 3 years of experience in acidic wastewater treatment plants and water pumping systems.
- Proven experience in pre‑commissioning and commissioning of electromechanical systems.
- Experience with pump systems (multistage, centrifugal, vertical, submersible) and filter systems (self‑cleaning, ultrafiltration, reverse osmosis), HDS processes, and lime slurry preparation plants.
- Experience in vacuum pre‑commissioning (vibrations, alignment, free rotation, lubrication tests).
- Experience in wet pre‑commissioning (hydraulic tests, flow, pressure, filter calibration, leak tests). Required Knowledge & Skills
- Regulatory standards: ASME B31.3, API 610, API 650, AWWA/ANSI C651, ISO 9001/14001/45001.
- Development and execution of mechanical pre‑commissioning procedures.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Navisworks Freedom, and other relevant software.
- Strong understanding of mechanical pre‑commissioning protocols for water pumps, including hydrostatic, flushing, laser alignment, vibration analysis, dynamic balancing, and over‑and‑under‑water testing.
- Experience with vibration and alignment equipment: SKF Microlog Analyzer, Fluke 810, SKF TKSA 71 laser alignment systems, V‑belt and pulley alignment tools, and belt frequency meters.
- Knowledge of mechanical equipment: pumps, filters, air compressors, heat exchangers, tanks, piping systems (stainless, HDPE, PVC), and control valves.
- Desirable: expertise in operational condition monitoring and reliability best practices.
- Demonstrated leadership and coordination of multidisciplinary field teams and documentation management.
