Upper Elementary Homeroom Teacher (La Molina)

The upper elementary school homeroom teacher is responsible for creating a adaptable classroom environment that promotes learning and personal growth. FDR teachers establish and maintain an effective rapport with students and positive relationships with parents and other staff members. The homeroom teacher regularly assesses students and develops lesson plans that are responsive to a range of learning needs and language proficiencies. The homeroom teacher works collaboratively with the teachers on their grade level team as well as EAL and learning support colleagues to plan units of study, design assessments, discuss student learning, moderate and analyze student work, and promote the educational needs of all students.

Required Qualifications and Experience
- BA or MA in Education
- Certification as an elementary school teacher
- A minimum of three years of elementary teaching experience
- A willingness and ability to reflect and critically examine teaching practices and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Desired Skills and Expertise
- Experience with backward design unit planning
- Strong content knowledge in numeracy, literacy, and language development
- Knowledge of a wide range of formative assessment strategies
- A proven ability to utilize a wide variety of instructional strategies in order to meet the diverse needs of learners.
