Mechanical Specialist 2 (Yanacocha)

Job Summary In this role, the professional will be responsible for leading different areas of the mechanical discipline in pre‑commissioning projects of acidic water treatment plants. The responsibilities include managing remote pumping of acidic water from leaching pools to treatment plants, overseeing ultrafiltration processes, reverse osmosis, active media filters, high‑density sludge (HDS), oxidation reactors, lime plants, various pumps and industrial air compressors, and ensuring the technical and functional responsibility for electromechanical and safety equipment. The role requires integrated collaboration with process, instrumentation, control, electrical, and ES&H; disciplines to ensure all pre‑commissioning, vacuum, and water activities are performed safely, efficiently, and reliably. Project Overview Located 800 km northeast of Lima, Peru, Yanacocha is South America’s largest gold mine. The WTP Project consists of two of the largest acid water treatment plants in South America—West plant (3,000 m³/h) and East plant (2,700 m³/h). Early works are currently being performed on site, preparing permanent platforms and laydown areas for the East and West plants, and developing the Class‑2 estimate, Level‑3 schedule and Execution Plan. Major Responsibilities
- Preparing daily, weekly and monthly technical progress reports on mechanical equipment testing and reporting to the Pre‑Commissioning Leader of the mechanical discipline.
- Guaranteeing compliance with pre‑operation standards of mechanically operated equipment, ensuring accurate data recording and application of safety protocols in line with regulatory requirements.
- Reviewing, validating and approving IPERC and the authorization of safe and high‑risk works in coordination with the ES&H; area.
- Validating and approving technical documentation and vendor reports for each equipment, including water test reports (water run) and corresponding functional parameter measurement checklists.
